In accordance with the post-a-day challenge by SunderedWorldDM, whose dreams bore the Orbseeker and whose deeds send the world shuddering.
An alternative set of rules for VtS armor:
- If your head is covered, your BLOCK is 2 (light armor).
- If your head and chest are covered, your BLOCK is 4 (medium armor).
- If your heat, chest, and at least two limbs are covered, your BLOCK is 6 (heavy armor).
- If everything but your head is covered, your BLOCK is 2 (light armor).
Substance
- leather, organic, and fabric coverings provide no penalty to stealth. All others give -1 per equipment slot (up to 3).
- Bronze coverings give DR 1 to protected hit locations. Iron give DR 2.
- Ceramic and bone occupy a sort of lame middle ground, but at least they're not as flammable as leather I guess?
- Stone takes up an additional equipment slot.
Such a system only works if you're willing to get into the details of things like assembling armor that is mostly silk, but with a ceramic chestplate and bronze helmet. But that might feel good in play?
