This adventure location was the result of an experiment in more freeform design. I still tried to keep a good mix of empty rooms, special sections, monster chambers, and so on, but I made no real effort to keep a consistant theme or sense of place. In the edit I did tweak things to relate to each other, but the Cave (which is largely a misnomer) is more of a "funhouse dungeon"

Player characters may come to the Cave of the Bellowing Earth because they seek riches, to scatter bandit knights, in search of a legendary chamber that can halt the worst illnesses, or because they seek to learn what became of a nobleman's child abandoned in the cave many years ago.
